|Welcome to Sussex County, Delaware, the southernmost county of the state. It is part of the Delmarva Peninsula and is a close cousin to the Chesapeake Bay's Eastern Shore. We have some of the most outstanding beaches of the Atlantic Coast as well as acres of lush farmland and dozens of major historic sites. This area is only a two-drive from Washington, DC, Philidelphia, Baltimore of Norfolk. One of the best kept secrets of the mid-Atlantic region, Sussex County, is a family-oriented, Main Street USA treasure. It is also noted that Delaware accomodates shoppers with no sales tax.
Sussex County is filled with several delightful small towns with yesteryear charm. Many of these towns are nestled along rivers, lakes, and ponds. The largest city in Sussex County is Seaford. In 1996, Seaford was ranked 28th in Crampton's "The 100 Best Small Towns in America." Seaford was given it's ranking based on a wide range of criteria including per capita income, proportion of young adults, and low crime rate. The characteristics combine to create an environment Cramptins considers "truly livable" for an average U.S. family. The state's population is on a growth binge led by Sussex County. Retirees and others are finding the kind of hospitality they apparently like: low taxes, plenty of recreational possibilties, informal living, and jobs for those who want to work.
This is a truck farming area with abundant vegetables and fruit orchards, a variety of local seafood, and the largest poultry growing area in the U.S. Browse my Delaware links for more information about my state, it's economy, local communities, Delaware news, and quality of life. All in all, I welcome you to Sussex County and to Seaford, where my office is located.
Give me a call or e-mail me with your real estate needs and I will be happy to show you around the area. I have both a Delaware and Maryland license, so I can work with you in both states.
